Funding opportunity for creative locals
Applications are open for funding for Ōpōtiki's creative projects.
The Creative New Zealand Creative Communities Scheme is aimed at increasing participation in the arts at a local level and expanding the range and diversity of arts available within the Ōpōtiki district.
Ōpōtiki District Council's Executive Support Officer, Annette Papuni-McLellan, helps administer the fund.
"Research shows that being involved in arts activities has a positive effect on our own wellbeing and on our community as a whole. That is why this fund exists - to support arts in our communities.
"It will be fantastic to see this fund support a wide range of creative projects, particularly this year as we have felt the impact of the pandemic locally. This is a great opportunity to use the arts to celebrate our community, our cultures, and strengthen the links between us. I think that is something we could all do with right now," Mrs Papuni-McLellan said.
Projects such as art, dance, drama, literature, music, seminars, workshops and community art and cultural events may be eligible.
Funding applications are considered by an assessment committee made up of dedicated representatives from the Ōpōtiki district.
Applications close on Friday 2 October 2020 for projects starting after Wednesday 14 October 2020.
Application forms, criteria and guides are available on the Creative Communities Scheme page on this website or Council's office, 108 St John Street, Ōpōtiki.
