First drive in movie night a success
Saturday night was Opotiki's first ever drive in movie night showing 'Hunt for the Wilder People' on a large 8m x 6m inflatable screen at Ohui Domain.
Ōpōtiki's i-SITE and Events Manager, Joseph Hayes said that the movie was about "the most Ōpōtiki movie we could think of."
"Most people know the 2016 New Zealand movie that was written and directed by Taika Waititi and whose screenplay was based on the book Wild Pork and Watercress by Barry Crump. So it was a great choice and we had a good showing of more than 50 cars parked up to listen and watch," Mr Hayes said.
An FM transmitter delivered the sound through car speakers and helpful parking attendants made sure drivers got a spot with a good view of the screen.
"It was a great night watching locals curled up with blankets in their own cars with kids and families all enjoying the night. We have had great feedback on our first ever go at this so I don't think it will be the last!"
