CCS Arts funding open for applications
Do you have a creative project that could use some assistance? Individuals and groups who have eligible arts projects are being encouraged to apply for a funding grant.
The Creative New Zealand Creative Communities Scheme – Ōpōtiki District is aimed at increasing participation in the arts at a local level and expanding the range and diversity of arts available within the district.
Ōpōtiki District Councillor and Assessment Committee Chair, Debi Hocart says the Scheme, which is administered by Ōpōtiki District Council, allocates around $20,000 of arts funding in the District each year. This round further funding from the Creative New Zealand Covid-19 Phase 2 Response Plan has been received so there is $16,000 available.
“Getting involved in arts activities can have an inspiring effect on both our individual lives and on our community as a whole.
“The Scheme endeavours to make more arts available to more people but ultimately, it’s up to the community to come up with the ideas and to make them happen.”
Debi Hocart explains that projects such as art, dance, drama, literature, music, seminars, workshops and community art and cultural events may be eligible.
In the last funding round, grants were allocated to assist with art panel creation, a sustainable art competition, exhibitions, art wananga, a Te Ao Māori photographic calendar, and pop art canvases of kaumatua.
Funding applications are considered by an assessment committee made up of dedicated representatives from the Ōpōtiki district.
Applications close Friday 7 May 2021 for projects starting after Wednesday 19 May 2021. Application forms, criteria, and guides are available at www.odc.govt.nz/ccs or Council’s office, 108 St John Street, Ōpōtiki.
