From the Mayor this ANZAC day
Anzac Day is a time for us to come together to honour and reflect on the courage of the original ANZACs, the brave soldiers from New Zealand and Australia who left our shores to fight in foreign lands.
They fought to defend our freedom and it is a day to pay tribute to those who served and those who made the ultimate sacrifice, giving their lives so that we may live in peace.
ANZAC day is an opportunity to acknowledge all those who have worn our country’s uniform with pride, serving here and overseas in the past and present.
The Anzacs legacy was one that valued mateship, courage and sacrifice. Let us aim to uphold these values in our own lives so we can continue to honour their memory through acts of kindness, service and remembrance.
The 25th of April is a day to stand together to show gratitude and respect for the Anzacs and all those that have served our nations.
Lest we forget.
