Condolence books open
Books of condolence have been made available at Opotiki District Council offices and the library following the Christchurch terror attacks last Friday.
Mayor John Forbes says the books provide another opportunity for people to express their sympathies to the victims, their families, the people of Christchurch and to Muslim communities around New Zealand.
"The condolence books will open for as long as needed and at an appropriate time be sent to the Mayor of Christchurch and leaders of the Christchurch Muslim community on behalf of the people of the Opotiki District," says John.
The flag at the Opotiki District Council is flying at half mast in recognition of the lives lost. "This tragedy will be felt in all corners of our small nation and our hearts go out to all those affected by it" says Mayor Forbes.
