Mayoral update 11 during COVID-19 response
A video update from Ōpōtiki District Mayor Lyn Riesterer and further information on what will be open for business as we move to Alert Level 2 on Thursday.
Measures will be in place for all services and facilities to ensure the safety of both staff and customers. We're still working through some additional restrictions though. What we have now is:
Main office - open for business Monday 18 May. Physical distancing, maximum numbers in the waiting area, contact tracing all apply and further processes and protocols apply when meeting with staff. Please phone ahead and book an appointment to meet with staff as some may still be working off-site. We encourage you to do as much as possible online.
Ōpōtiki i-SITE - open for business Monday 18 May.
Ōpōtiki Library - Check our website for status update on Thursday.
Public toilets - CBD, Memorial Park, Hukawai, Surf Club, Te Ahiaua (Pipi bed), Ōhiwa Boat Ramp, i-SITE and Maraetai Bay (Te Kaha) toilets all opening Thursday.
Parks and Reserves still open and Playgrounds opening Thursday.
Regulatory services - Business as usual from Monday.
Water supply - Potable (drinking) water service will continue as normal.
Refuse Recovery Centres - Open. All household refuse, recyclables (as per Alert Level 3) and green waste accepted. Charges for disposal at the RRCs will apply from Thursday. Payment is by EFTPOS and current commercial charge accounts only. Cash will not be accepted at this time. Check our website on Thursday for any further status/service updates.
Urban kerbside collection - No changes. It is still same day, same way.
Wastewater - service continues as normal.
