Second serving of breakfast
Following the success of Ōpōtiki's first business breakfast last month, this week town centre business owners joined forces again for a follow-up meeting over breakfast at the Ōpōtiki Baptist Church hall.
This business meeting was the second organised by the Ōpōtiki District Council and the Eastern Bay of Plenty Chamber of Commerce.
Council's Planning and Regulatory Group Manager, Gerard McCormack said that the meeting was a chance to follow-up on some of the feedback from the last meeting particularly in relation to the networking of businesses and economic opportunities.
"At these meetings, great conversations and connections often happen over coffee. Good ideas are floated between people who might not otherwise meet very often and it would be great to see that continue. Particularly as we are in a period of what the Chamber of Commerce has described as 'economic surge' due to increased activity from existing businesses and in the injection of PGF [Provincial Growth Fund] funding as well. These sorts of connections can help businesses have a united voice and make the most of this growth," Mr McCormack said.
Karl Gradon from the Eastern Bay Chamber of Commerce agreed.
"It was great to see businesses at the breakfast keen to take this forward. We've agreed to meet at 7.30am on Tuesday 5 November at the Ōpōtiki Council Chambers to discuss the formation of an Ōpōtiki promotional group to make the most of growth in the area. It is an exciting opportunity and the more businesses that come along, the better our voice will be," Mr Gradon said.
