Te Tāhuhu o Te Rangi - call for proposals from local artists
News
We are looking to commission local artists or artists with a connection to our District to provide permanent art work for display on these panels.
Details for artists to consider:
- 8 panels available for display of both permanent and exhibition art.
- Pieces can be 2/3 of a panel or 1/3 of a panel (or smaller as part of a combined composition).
- The total budget available for all permanent art is $50,000.
- Overall dimensions of each panel are 1.16m x 4.76m. Specific dimensions of each piece will be confirmed when proposals are agreed and artists appointed.
- The top of each panel has an overlapping ‘wedge’ that will need to be considered for pieces in this location. Details can be provided upon request.
- Weight is a consideration in terms of material choice.
- The location and placement of art on each panel will be decided once proposals from artists have been received. A decision will be made on how much of the space is to be retained for exhibition art once we have received proposals from artists.
- Artists interested in exhibiting their art in the building are encouraged to submit proposals for consideration. Artists whose proposals are not selected for permanent display, can request consideration for display as exhibition art.
Process
- Tangimoe Clay is managing the process and liaising with the artists on behalf of Council.
- Proposals must be submitted by email to info@odc.govt.nz or delivered by hand to Council offices at 108 St Johns Street, Ōpōtiki (open 8am-5pm Monday to Friday) by the closing date.
- Proposals must be submitted on the application form provided and all information must be included. Incomplete application forms, or forms submitted after the closing date may not be accepted.
- All submitted proposals will be reviewed and a recommendation will be made to Council staff for consideration.`
