Welcome to our newest citizens

On Monday this week [23 January 2023], Ōpōtiki held its first citizenship ceremony for two years and welcomed seven new citizens to the district.

Ōpōtiki Mayor, David Moore, congratulated the new citizens, welcoming them to the Ōpōtiki community.

“It has been a couple of years since Council has been able to hold citizenship ceremonies due to covid and it felt wonderful to get these underway again. They are a celebration for those getting their citizenship and their supporters, families and friends. It is one of the very rare times I wear my chains of office!

“These seven people bring new perspectives and skills to our community, enriching the whole district. On behalf of the community, I welcome them and we feel privileged that they have chosen to make our part of New Zealand home.
