Following significant effort and work by the Planning and Regulatory group, particularly the Team Leader, Ōpōtiki District Council is now a recognised food agency.
Becoming a registered food agency is a significant undertaking under rules set by the Ministry of Primary Industries.
“It comes with a lot of requirements and responsibilities and it allows us to carry out verification work under the Food Act. But it means we can build on our current work, particular our recent contracts for neighbouring councils,” Gerard McCormack, Group Manager, said.
