As part of the Opotiki Town Centre Master Plan, the Elliott Street / Potts Ave intersection (including the Cenotaph) will be closed in two stages, for construction around the Cenotaph.
Early works: 07 February till 25 February
Road closure signs will be placed at the Church Street roundabout and Potts Ave intersection. This will block the west end of Elliot St to Potts Ave.
You’ll also see a 2 meter high fence, which will secure the site around the cenotaph from east bound traffic on Elliot.
Full works: 26 February to 22 April
The closure extends from 26 February to 22 April for the construction of paved roading in the Elliott Street / Potts Ave intersection.
This stage of work will include traffic management and signage, earth works, drainage & concrete works for kerb and channels, pavement and resurfacing with concrete pavers, landscaping and reinstatement; marking the completion of all works.
What this means for you
- To access the skatepark and playground carpark – take a minor detour down Church Street and Kelly Street
- Access to the Thirsty liquor store and resident access will not be affected.
Exciting changes are coming and we will keep you up to date on progress.
