Key outcomes from the Extra Ordinary Council meeting 30 July 2024

Adoption of the initial proposal for the council’s representation review for public consultation. Public consultation will be from 6 August to 7 September with hearings (if required) in mid-September. Councillors voted for Option 5 - four councillors elected from two general wards, and three councillors elected from two Māori wards. It was noted that this option does not comply with the +/-10% rule and would require a Local Government Commission for determination.
