About the role
Are you keen on a career in administration and secretarial services? Have you any interest organising and well-kept documentation? Our Business Support Group are looking for a Governance Support Officer to assist in maintaining an efficient running of Local Governance. This is a full-time role.
In this position, you will ensure timely and accurate preparation of agendas, and minutes for Council and Council Committee meetings. This role requires clear and concise communications to be delivered to meeting attendees and staff and experience in coordinating governance meetings.
Key responsibilities:
- Secretarial services
- Minute taking
- Scheduling and administrative preparation of meetings
- Arranging and providing logistical services for meetings
- Monitoring and disseminating correspondence
- Managing diaries and appointment making
- Communication changes to meetings or documents
- Coordinating governance services
- Providing elections support
- Ensuring statutory obligations are fulfilled
About you
For this role you will have previous experience in a similar role and/or 5 years’ experience in administrative support. It is advantageous to have local knowledge and an understanding of Tikanga Māori.
Ideally you will have:
- Knowledge of meeting protocols and standing orders
- Knowledge of Local Government Act 2002
- General Local Government knowledge of processes
- Excellent time-management skills
- Excellent grammar, written and verbal skills
- Maintain high levels of confidentiality
- High level of computer literacy using Microsoft Office
