Health
Certain businesses are required to be licensed under the Health Act including hairdressers and camping grounds.
Premises are inspected regularly and registered annually.
Hairdressers
All hairdressing premises are required to comply with the Health (Hairdressing) Regulations 1980.
Basic requirements of the premises are included in our Conduct Items for Hairdressers guide (PDF, 100KB).
Registration is renewed each year on 30 June or if the business changes hands. Premises are inspected on an annual basis (the fee for this inspection is included in the renewal fee) unless a complaint is received, in which case an inspection outside of the annual basis will be conducted.
A completed Application for Registration as a Hairdresser (PDF, 402KB) must be submitted to us - you can complete this application online if you prefer. An environmental health officer will contact you for an opening inspection. You may not open until registration has been made and the environmental health officer has approved opening of the premises. An application fee is required to be submitted with the application. Please refer to our Fees and Charges Schedule (PDF, 551KB) for the appropriate fee.
Camping grounds
All camping grounds are required to comply with the Camping Grounds Regulations 1985 unless a special exemption for some aspects has been granted by the council.
Registration is renewed each year on 30 June or if the business changes hands. Premises are inspected on an annual basis (the fee for this inspection is included in the renewal fee) unless a complaint is received in which case an inspection outside of the annual basis will be conducted.
A completed Application for Registration of a Camping Ground (PDF, 402KB) must be submitted to us for new and renewal registrations. An environmental health officer will contact you for an opening inspection. You may not open until registration has been completed and the environmental health officer has approved opening of the premises. An application fee is required with the application. Please refer to our Fees and Charges Schedule (PDF, 551KB) for the applicable fee.
To apply for special exemption, complete an Application for Exemption from Camping-Grounds Regulations 1985 (PDF, 2.22MB).
