Join the Library
Joining Te Tāhuhu o Te Rangi is easy and free!
If you already belong to the Whakatāne, Kawerau, Western Bay of Plenty, Rotorua or Taupō libraries, you can use your card to borrow with us. But if you want to keep our relationship secret, we don't mind you starting a separate membership with us!
Borrowing
We encourage members to borrow up to 20 books at a time. Borrowing limits for the eBooks and Audiobooks in our electronic collection vary with each provider.
The standard loan periods are 4 weeks for books, and 1 week for magazines and DVDs. Items in our Tere Atu, Tere Mai (Library of Things) collection generally can be borrowed for 1 week at a time.
Renewing
Items may be renewed in person, over the phone, by text message, or through the online catalogue, provided that no one else is waiting to borrow them. Items from Tere Atu, Tere Mai (Library of Things) may not be automatically renewed as we must sight each item before lending again.

Conditions of membership
In registering as a member of Te Tāhuhu o Te Rangi (TToTR), you agree to:
- Produce your library card when using our services.
- Return all items by the due date or renew them.
- Pay for damaged or lost items.
- Advise TToTR staff of any change of contact details.
- Let TToTR staff know if you lose your card.
- Acknowledge the same responsibility for any child you have registered.
Privacy Statement
- Personal information is collected to enable you to borrow and return material from TToTR. This information may also be used for internal management purposes or, in some circumstances, for other reasons permitted by the Privacy Act 2020.
- The personal information collected is:
- Name
- Date of birth
- Address
- Contact details (email and/or phone number)
- Information on your use of our Library services
- The personal information collected is held safely and securely by an external third-party provider.
- TToTR staff may use your personal information to contact you regarding library matters like late returns, held items, etc.
- Occasionally TToTR may be required to disclose your personal information for Privacy purposes or there may be safety reasons for disclosing it.
- You have the right to access and correct your personal information. If you wish to have access or correct your information, you can:

- If you do not wish to provide your personal information, we must decline your membership application.
