Information requested by candidates

This enables Council information to be available to all candidates on an equal basis and applies to information that is not already easily searchable publicly.

As information is requested we will load the requests and answers here so all candidates have equal access to the information.

Candidate asked: I have just been told by a relation who went in to cast a special this afternoon they had not special votes left? Is this right? And if so how long until we get more? (4 October 2022)

Answer: Yes, we have had an exceptional number of special votes cast in some wards this year. We are expecting to receive more packs today (Wednesday) and will put some comms out with those details.

Candidate asked: What date can election hoardings go up?

Answer: Election signs are permitted one calendar month before election day and must come down before midnight before election day. More details for candidates are on the website.

Candidate asked: Are candidates allowed to utilise "Parks" to host Campaign gatherings for free BBQ etc? Or is this considered a no go zone being a Council asset?

Answer: Public reserves are open to all members of the public. If you’re planning to use a facility, such as the library or pavilion, that require booking then you would need to follow the same process as a normal user when booking the venue, including paying a bond etc. if applicable. If you’re planning to use a Council reserve that doesn’t require booking we would just ask that you be courteous of other users and be sure to clean up after / repair any damage etc.

Keep in mind that election signs are not permitted on Council owned or controlled land.
